🧗⛰️ Reach New Heights at Open Climb Night in Rock Hill

A fun, affordable monthly climbing experience!

By Fort Mill Macaroni Kid February 27, 2026

Looking for a fun, active way to challenge yourself or try something new? The popular Open Climb program is back at the Northside Recreation Center, offering an exciting indoor climbing experience for participants of all ages and skill levels. Held on the second Monday and fourth Monday of each month from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, this affordable and family-friendly program invites the community to step out of their comfort zone and scale new heights—literally.

Hosted by the City of Rock Hill, Open Climb provides a welcoming and supportive environment where beginners and experienced climbers alike can enjoy the thrill of indoor rock climbing. Whether you’re trying it for the first time or looking to sharpen your skills, trained staff members will be on hand to provide all necessary equipment, guidance, and encouragement.

A Fun and Inclusive Experience for Everyone

One of the best features of Open Climb is its accessibility. Climbers of all ages are welcome, making it a perfect outing for families, teens, and adults. Children are encouraged to participate, but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian during the event. The program creates a safe, supervised space where kids can build confidence while parents share in the experience.

Indoor climbing offers numerous physical and mental benefits. It helps improve strength, coordination, balance, and flexibility, while also promoting problem-solving and perseverance. Each climb presents a new challenge, making it as much a mental workout as a physical one.

Affordable and Convenient

Open Climb is designed to be accessible to everyone in the community. The cost is just $5 for Rock Hill, South Carolina residents and $10 for non-city residents. Payment is flexible and convenient, with cash, check, or card accepted at the door. Even better—there’s no need to pre-register. Simply show up ready to climb.

All participants must complete the required Outdoor Programs Waiver before climbing. This ensures a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone involved.

Supportive Staff and Guidance

Safety and support are top priorities. Knowledgeable recreation staff will be present throughout the event to assist climbers, provide instruction, and ensure proper use of equipment. Their goal is to create a positive and encouraging environment where participants feel comfortable trying something new.

For additional information or questions, community members can reach out to Molly Koester-Bruce, who can provide details about the program and what to expect.

Make It a Monthly Adventure

Open Climb is more than just a recreational activity—it’s an opportunity to connect with others, build confidence, and discover a new passion. Whether you’re climbing to challenge yourself, spend quality time with family, or simply try something different, this monthly event offers something for everyone.

Before attending, participants are encouraged to check the website for any schedule updates due to holidays or special events.

Don’t miss your chance to experience the excitement of indoor climbing. Grab a friend, bring the family, and join the community for an evening of adventure at Open Climb Night.
